ClearedFor107
Frequently asked questions
About the FAA Part 107 knowledge test and the ClearedFor107 course.
- What is a Part 107 certificate?
- The FAA Remote Pilot Certificate lets you fly a drone under 14 CFR part 107: for a business, for pay, or for anything that is not purely recreational. You earn it by passing the FAA knowledge test and a TSA security check, then applying in IACRA. See the full steps.
- Is ClearedFor107 built on the FAA's own test standard?
- Yes. Every lesson follows a task in the Remote Pilot Airman Certification Standards (FAA-S-ACS-10B), and every practice question is tagged with the same code the FAA prints on your test report.
- Can I try it before I buy?
- Yes. The sample test is free, has 20 questions, no time limit, and needs no account.
- How long do I have access?
- Course access doesn't expire, for as long as the course is offered. Study at your own pace and come back any time, including before a retest or a recurrent check.
- Does it practice the charts used on the FAA test?
- Yes. Lessons show figures from the FAA testing supplement (FAA-CT-8080-2H) and the FAA Remote Pilot Study Guide where the text explains them, and you can zoom into every one. Practice questions also use pieces of current FAA sectional charts, like the chart images the FAA test can now show.
- Is it more than reading?
- Lessons go one screen at a time, with quick "Check yourself" questions, memory hooks, diagrams, and common test traps. Every lesson has something to try, such as a METAR decoder or a cloud clearance calculator, and its own flashcard deck.
- Does practice look like the real test?
- Full practice exams are 60 questions with a 2-hour limit, weighted by area the way the ACS weights the FAA test. Results list the ACS codes you missed, each linked to its lesson.
- What is on the FAA test?
- 60 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours, 70% to pass, from five areas: regulations, airspace, weather, loading and performance, and operations. See the topics and how much each counts.
- What if I don't pass the first time?
- Wait 14 days and retest. Enter the ACS codes from your FAA test report and the course builds a review plan: the lessons behind each code and focused practice on just those subjects.
- Is there a person to ask?
- Yes. You can send a question from the end of any lesson. An instructor answers, and you read the answer on the same page. Before buying, use Ask a question.
- Does it tell me what to do after I pass?
- A step-by-step guide covers getting your FTN, booking the test with PSI, test day, and applying for your certificate in IACRA.
- I already have a part 61 pilot certificate. Do I need the test?
- Not if you have a current flight review. You take a free FAA online course instead and apply through IACRA. See the steps for part 61 pilots.
- How do I stay current after I pass?
- Complete free online recurrent training every 24 calendar months. See how recurrent training works.
- Is there group pricing?
- Yes. Groups of 5 or more get a discount per person, one shared sign-up link, and a group leader page to follow everyone's progress. See group pricing.
