Part 107 recurrent training

A Remote Pilot Certificate has no expiration date, but to fly under Part 107 your knowledge has to be current. Here's how recurrent training works.

The rule

To act as remote pilot in command, you must have passed the initial knowledge test or completed recurrent training within the previous 24 calendar months (14 CFR 107.65). Calendar months means it runs to the end of the month: training completed any day in March 2026 keeps you current through March 31, 2028.

The training is free and online

If you let it lapse

Your certificate stays valid, but you may not exercise its privileges until you complete recurrent training. Take the online course, and you are current again from that date. There is no need to retake the testing-center exam.

Night operations

Flying at night under Part 107 requires that your knowledge test or recurrent training was completed after April 6, 2021, when night operations were added, plus anti-collision lighting visible for 3 statute miles. Anyone current today has met that date, as long as they stay current.

Want a deeper refresher?

The online recurrent course covers the rules. If it has been a while since you studied airspace, charts, and weather, a full review helps you fly with confidence. ClearedFor107 course access doesn't expire, so the course is there for every recurrent cycle.
